are any of you moms out there on Mirena? It's an IUD birth control that's supposed to not have side effects of weight gain, but does it effect weight loss any? My periods are all out of whack still since I've only been on it about a month... but I'm hoping that once it regulates I won't have any issues losing weight because of it....
any thoughts on that? :D
thanks!

No, the hormone acts locally so you don't get the systemic effects of the progesterone like you do on the implanon or mini pill.

I got Mirena at the beginning of April. It does not cause weight gain, and so far it has not effected my weight loss either. I've lost another 3 or 4 pounds since I got it put it. I LOVE it. best invention ever.:hurray:

Any luck on the mirena?? I've just gotten it, about a month ago and I've read some crazy reviews since getting it. So far, nothing bad has happened with me, but I'd love to hear how you've done since your last post.

so far so good. My period has regulated now and it's shorter too:hurray: I've been going gungho with my exercise/eating plan for a few weeks now and have shed a few pounds! so it doesn't seem to effect my ability to lose weight any... woo hoo!

Congrats, Burrito, on getting mirena (some of us are still stuck going old fashion, lol). The progesterone in the IUD will take some time to normalize your periods (some people have continual periods for days, weeks and sometimes months). From the information I have on Mirena, most women begin to experience "normalcy" around 8 months to 1 year after having the mirena instilled. That information may have come a little late, lol. Good luck :)
