Jeremy-so what I only have about 15 as of this morning but that is when you can really see the biggest difference in my opinion with loosing the least because I can get pretty firm and toned which will be a big change. You being a guy and only having 35lbs I would think you could make a HUGE transformation if you were to loose about 2lbs a week you would pretty much be at your goal! what should be worn in the before pics ie tight clothes bathing suit etc and does it have to include face? Also does it matter if what day pics are taken as long as it is between teh 22-29th?
where what you are comfortable in... or will show off the changes but the before and after should be wearing the same ensemble...

rest assured there will be NO naked pics here LOL, but I am considering a bathing suit for maximum observable difference since most of mine is in the upper legs thigs butt area it would be harder to tell in clothes.

Yes you can wear what you like - but it has to be the same outfit before and after. Preferably it would be easier to see a change with tighter clothing, but it is what you feel comfortable in.
Take the photo within the sign up week - probably the 28th, or even the day it starts 29th if you want to be exact:)
Also this is not a competition about who can lose the most weight - it is more geared towards a goal you have in mind, whether it be the last 15 pounds or gaining muscle, or losing a lot. It is your choice!

no problem with the date change.
I do have a couple of questions... with the change in start dates, do we add another week on (May 7) or still stop at the end of April?
Also on the check in dates, do we list just weight or should we be doing ALL the measurements then as well? I'm hoping we just do them at the beginning & end, but I could get used to doing it more often.

Oooh I want in! I have been out of the country for a while now, but I'm looking forward to getting involved again on these boards and getting back on track (I gained 15-20lbs while travelling the world lol). Does anyone have a suggestion of what else we could use besides a newspaper to show the date? Neither my family nor I ever get newspapers. I can get one if necessary, I was just wondering if anyone had any other ideas. I'll post all my information tomorrow.

Just to clarify - are you expecting people to post measurements every week or just at the start and finish and weigh the rest of the time? The post says one thing and the page implies another to me. I have never taken measurements weekly.

Hey everyone! I just wanted you all to know, I just talked to Sean (the admin.) and he said the actually challenge DID NOT get moved back a week. The date that you HAVE to have your picture posted WITH A NEWSPAPER got moved back till the 6th. However the challenge itself will still start on the 29th :)
I personally am gonna get my picture in on the 29th b/c if I loose 5 or so pds between the 29th and the 6th, I def. would want it to reflect in my photo! BUT for all you that don't have a digital camera, this might help you out some.

It's up to you whether to post your measurements every weigh in date, but you can just do it at the start and end of the contest if you like. This is more up to you to do it how you wish! The chart dates won't change, they should stay the same......just you have until the 6th to enter.

My goals:
-lose 25 pounds. Down to 169 lbs. Lose inches (not sure of an exact number).
-fit comfortably into a size 12/14 pants and large shirt.
-weight lift 3x a week for 45 minutes. Cardio 3x a week for 1/2 hour.
-eat clean.
-take time for myself. For the past four years (age of oldest son), I have put myself on the back burner. I feel 20 years older than I actually am, and I believe I look it too.

Measure at your natural waist, which is approximately 2" above your hip bone. This pretty much equates to the horizontal plane on which your belly button lies. I suggest this because it is probably the area of your core with the greatest circumference, measuring as it does the middle of your waist and love handles. It should most closely/accurately reflect any changes.

That is pretty much where I measured my stomach for this contest - but I have always thought of my waist as being a different place than that - i.e. where my sides pinch in to the narrowest! It is lucky that the form did not have a measurement saying waist or I would have got it wrong!

Hello everyone. I was looking around for some sort of contest like this one, so I decided to sign up! I'm also new to the forum, so I'm still feeling my way around. Please let me know if I'm doing anything wrong :)
I know I'm getting close to the wire to sign up, but I suppose that just gives me a disadvantage in time to get to my goal, so I hope no one minds :) I'll post pictures and measurments tonight (I'm at work, and I don't suppose people would appreciate me cracking out a camera and measuring tape in the middle of the office :) )

Oh shit weight in was today...well yesturday...Im not gonna be able to weigh tin till Saturday...Im working night shift and I dont weight myself until Ive been able to sleep a full night after my overnights are done...My body gets so confused when I work the nights...

I like this idea!
Or maybe, rather than a new thread each weekly weigh in, have one thread with just people's info and stats (that big list thingy), without the commentary and discussion. That way you can quickly scroll through everyone's stuff quickly, see the weekly progression, and make comments in this thread. Maybe a little easier than each week having to copy everything. Just a thought.
BTW, 2 pounds so far!! Yay me :) hehehe.
But a bigger breakthrough for me this week is that I finally got my eating under control. A tip for those of us in the last 10-20 pounds phase (and sorry if this starts to sound preachy), you have to eat enough! The last time I lost a bunch of weight down to 135 (and I'm ashamed to say I've done it twice but never managed to keep it off) I was at a nasty plateau of 150 for a long while, even though I was eating very healthy and working out very rigorously 5 days a week. Then I realized that I was only eating about 900 calories a day. I wasn't consciously starving myself, I just felt satisfied with that much food so I didn't feel the need to eat any more. I then INCREASED my calorie intake to 1500cals a day, while maintaining my exercise, and dropped 10 pounds in 2 weeks! My body was in starvation mode and I didn't even realize it. I found myself starting to go down that same starvation diet again, and quickly changed to a complete, balanced plan. So make sure you're fueling your body properly, and it will reward you!

As for exercise i'm going to walk at least a mile tomorrow and i have been doing at least that every morning between 3am and 6am during my paper route with hubby.. fun and its freezing then too.. haha

prizes are determined subjectively, much like the final prizes. it will be based on participation in the contest, as well as your progress and meeting your goals. For example, if you weight 120 lbs, and you want to gain 20, that's a lot harder than if you weigh 160 and want to gain 20 (or the reverse) ... i use weight only as an example because it's an easy example .. it's more based on measurements.

I am not sure if i have already been disqualified for not posting much but either way i have to drop out of the contest. I found out tuesday and have confirmed it not by a doc yet but by several other pregnancy test that i am pregnant so that means no more losing weight just watching what i eat and exercising but not overdoing it at this point. so good luck everyone.
