Does anyone out there have kids that are using WeeWorld?? How do you feel about it?? had any problems?

At first I told my 10 yr old DD that she could get on WeeWorld and just talk to her friends only...Well, about a month ago I told her that as long as she's responsible, she could have a couple of friends that weren't people she knew in real life.....So I went and took a look at her acct today....she has 37 friends, 6 different usernames/characters and even made up a male character so she could pass him off as her boyfriend!!! I think its getting out of control...but am I being silly over an innocent thing??

The internet is a valuable tool for education for people -but it's also got to be used responsibly by children and monitored by the parent especially at age 10 - older children are entitled to some privacy -but it's got to be earned...

you're the parent - if you think it's getting out of control - talk to her and explain what limits should be on it -and do ask why she thinks she needs that many characters.

Ok I found it now. Looks harmless enough. I agree that you should monitor it and council her on responsible internet usage. after all

hi guys, thanks for your thoughts...i asked her about the characters and she said "i dunno" So I made her delete all of them and went back to only having her real-life friends on her buddy list again. I'm concerned w/ the fact that she felt the need to have a boyfriend at her age, Its something I'm gonna have to talk to her more about later.

I just think that if at 10 y/o she is on some social site having all these usernames, what is she going to be up to when she's 13 or 16, you know? i'd just rather nip it in the bud now!

As a kid, I was the crowned princess of I Don't Know as a response - when I knew damn well why I was doing something... if you're really interested in her intentions -you might want to ask again - otherwise - case closed moving on

You're the parent - your computer, your house your rules... you do not need to explain yourself... and if the kid doesn't like it -well she can get a job and get out -no wait she's 10 :D
