***Please note that this transformation just started JULY 2008, You will see progress each month***

Hello, I am 25 years old/ Male. I am posting this nasty pictures as a motivation for me and for others. You guys will see me change month by month.

This pictures were taken JULY 2008. Next set of pictures is going to be AUGUST,SEPT,OCT,NOV,DEC 2008.

1) I jumped from 150 to 210 in apprx 6 months
2) My goal is to be at 150 again.
3) Deadline is New Years Eve.

Why I gained 60 pounds?: The reason that I gained all that weight is because "somehow" i stopped going to the gym, I have this desk job that I can NOT move at all because I am at the phone and computer all day long for 10 hours, and where I work they have "free" food like donuts and subs for free.... then I got home and my wife invites me to eat out with her.....

What am I doing now to change it?: I am going to the gym daily and watching what I eat. I don't eat junk at work, instead I fix my own lunch and carry it with me. It is very EASY for me to gain weight but with motivation i can achieve my goal. Also, My wife is a skinny little girl and she can eat whatever she wants and she still is 110 pounds. Im so Jelous of her metabolism.

Anyways, I hope you guys can give me some motivation because I really need BIG help.

Sorry for the pictures.... :puke:

Good for you, man. It's going to be tough fighting all of that temptation at work. I get that a lot here... every day there are donuts, pastries, sweets of all kinds. I just stick to my office. When it's time to eat, I go grab my food from the kitchen and bring it back to my office. Out of sight, out of mind.

Good luck!

Thanks guys! Does it help to go to the gym every single DAY? My knees are starting to hurt a little......... ouch!

Depends what you're doing at the gym. I do 3 days/week strength training and I have started added running (outdoors/sidewalks) at least twice/week.

If your knees are starting to hurt then maybe take it a bit easier and work your way up. Are they hurting during cardio? Weights? Always?

I had horrible knees and hips (hips are still a bit problematic) but they seem to be much better since I started doing squats.

You definitely don't want to injure yourself since you won't be able to go to the gym at all then... so scale back, maybe try three days/week for a couple weeks and see how that feels. If you feel better than bump it up to 4x.

You should keep at least one day a week reserved for rest, and if you're new to exercise, I agree with darwinfish - 3x-4x a week is all you need.

I agree 100% Thanks for reminding me. I was so focused on the gym that forgot this part.

Thanks!!!

Well it has happened. My knees hurt really bad.... :( I guess I have to stop the cardio and get my butt in the weight room........

What kind of cardio have you been doing? Running? Elliptical? Treadmill? I was around your weight when I first started trying to add running to my routine. I was trying to get ready for an 8-mile run in September. Not happening. Killed my knees, my hips and my Achilles tendon in my right leg. It was brutal. Fast forward a few months and 40lbs lighter and I tried running again. MUCH better.

Less weight = less force/shock on your bones/joints as you move about in your cardio routine. So lose some weight in the gym then go back and try some cardio again and see if it's any better.

It makes sense. I was doing Elliptical for 60 min straight everyday. That is the problem. Now, I can't even walk straight. I am taking a week off then hitting the weights to give my knees a break. They feel like around the knee cap, bones are touching bones.... its not painful but feels funny....

Good luck!!! I think everyone on here knows how easy it is to lose motivation after a couple of weeks, but if you visit here regularly you'll be amazed at what can inspire you!
I too had a lot of difficulty with my knees after using the treadmill, but personally I found the bike a good way to warm up my knees first. Once I warm up I can run without the aftermath! It's different for everyone though I guess. Definately if you can swim give that a go you'll get amazing results without any stress on your joints!

I weigh a lot and don't have the greatest knees either. You might want to try a stationary bike or a recumbent bike (the kind where you're sitting and have back support) at a low setting. You might also try swimming.

I can do the elliptical for up to 40 minutes before my legs start to buckle; I have pretty strong leg muscles so it makes up for my weaker knees. I don't want to push them too hard though, because if they hurt everything kind of skids to a halt.

If your knees don't improve in a week, see a doctor. You don't want to blow them out and need surgery. Might be a good idea to talk to a PT to help you develop a workout that will be gentle to your knees but still allow you to drop weight.

The other posters are right, too; once you lose more weight your knees will start to feel better because they're not supporting so much weight.

A friend of mine has a sister-in-law who weighed 400 lbs for years and after gastric bypass weighs about 250 lbs and needs knee replacements. She's in her early 40s. She's pretty limited in what exercise she can do because of her bad knees. So...it's a good idea to be kind to your knees. :hurray:

good job on the progress and honesty.

I am officially starting my 100 pounds in one year exorcism tomorrow (although I have been experimentally going at it for a week now, testing my schedule plans).

I fear the hunger part as well........ but I am preparing for that too.

Try not bringing your wallet to work, so the temptation to buy a snack is impossible....or as my workplace goes.....I Cant go out to lunch with the guys if I dont have any money on me.

I also am portioning out meals & snacks for the whole day: (weigh everything!!! and record the calories!! You will then know exactly how much you are eating during the day....and you can punish yourself for fudging by having to drink 32 ounces of water ;) ....lol

EXAMPLE meals that I am doing for a day:
oatmeal with raisins 6:00,
banana at 10:00,
lunch at 11:30 (food varies....I am making Lunch my big meal)
mixed nuts 2:30
Dinner 6:00 ( chicken or fish, with lots of hot veggies, and a salad.)

I have been doing the restricted portioning for a few days, and I havent had any hunger pains ..YET. I have 5 meals planned per day, leaving me room to add one if I need to if I see a spot in the day where I am food-insane.

oh...and Brush your teeth at 7:30 or 8:00 at night....so you dont want to get your teeth dirty for the rest of the eve ;)

anyway good luck to you, we all are in this together.

My story is exactly the same as yours but I am 27 and weigh 180. I am going for a weight of 140. Some people may not think 180 is too large but I basically put 40 lbs of fat on my chest, waiste, and face in the last 6 months.

That is awsome you are doing the elipticle machine 60 mins a day. I am doing the same. I am going to follow your progress.

If we just stick to our current regimen then we will easily hit 150 by newyears.

The fact you lost 8 lbs in 3 weeks is awsome. That's 10 lbs a month which is about the max your body can lose. You are obviously doing everything perfect. Just stick to it and each month will be 10 lbs. So four months from now you will have 40 lbs less fat hanging off your body.

My knees used to hurt too. I recomend just doing the elipticle until you lose 30 lbs then try running again.

How are things going for you?? Back in 2004 I weighed 230 pounds, and had decided that I wanted to lose weight. I got down to 197 and I sat there until 2006. In 2006 I decided that I wanted something more so I started exercising hardcore, within 5 months I dropped 47 pounds. In June of 2006 I was at 150 pounds, because of all of the exercise and toning that I did I ended up wearing a size 12 jeans and my waist went from a 42 to a 34. Then in Dec of 2006 I found out I was expecting and I gained a ton of weight. My son is now nearly 1 year old and I am sitting at 170 pounds. My goal is to get back to where I was, but now I have a full time job and a total of 3 children, which makes it more difficult than it was before to lose this weight. I know it is hard, but it is a choice you have already made. You are losing weight and obviously feeling better about yourself. Keep going, it is worth it.

Well I want to provide how I am loosing my fat ass weight…….. (Excuse my French!)

I am eating 5 – 6 small meals a day
Usually around 250 calories each.
I usually go for a walk for about 1 hour (4 times per week)
I drink 1 diet Zero Coke at work in the morning and Water the rest of the day.
Bring my lunch at work and don’t eat out AT ALL! Fast Food is your worst enemy…… NO NO! Your non-dieting friends are your worst enemy.

Starting Weight= 210
Current Weight= 199

I’ll keep you guys posted.

Great job. Just read through your thread and it was encouraging. I started out in March of this year at 253 and this morning the scale said 203.5. I can't wait to get under that magical number of 200. It has been years since I have been below that but I am determined to get to at least 180. Anyway, keep up the good work and keep writing!

Even though your weight loss is slow now, if you stick to the plan that you have above, you will see the weight fly off.

You have a pretty solid plan there my friend.

i know it feels like the weight loss is slow but you seem to be losing at a decent rate actually. the first post in this thread was in june and by july you had lost 11 pounds. you have to manage your expectations. instead of hopping on a scale every week and hoping for huge losses try mapping it out. look at a calendar and see how long it will take you to reach a goal weight if you lose 1 pound a week. as the ball gets rolling ull stop looking at the small picture and ull look at the big picture.

no updates since july...how are you doing now that its november?
