You're comparing a cup of dry rice to a cup of cooked rice there.

Cooked instant rice: Nutrition Facts and Analysis for Rice, white, long-grain, precooked or instant, enriched, prepared (http://www.nutritiondata.com/facts/cereal-grains-and-pasta/5716/2)

They're similar enough that I wouldn't worry about it either way. That 90-second precooked pouch brown rice is supposed to be pretty good.

I have some uncle ben's instant vegetable rice and for a cup its 220 calories where as a half a cup of my whole wheat brown rice is like 150 calories.

I think the instant rice doesn't taste so good though. Its a difference of 3 and ah alf minutes cooking time though, not really a big deal to me.
