I'm starting the atkins diet on Saturday after following a low calorie diet since June. I'm planning on doing it till around new year just to give it ago and was wondering what would happen when i swapped back from the low carb diet to low calorie diet??
thanks

Carbs and calories are not interchangeable. The former is a macronutrient and the latter is a measurement of energy.

Calories are the foundation that all diets are built upon; low carb, high carb, low fat, high fat, low protein, high protein.

To prove the point, you could eat low carb but high calorie and gain weight.

Read the stickies.

but say i started eating around 1500 calories a day and 50% of that was carbs, after doing the very low carb diet, would this make me gain a whole lot of weight, as i'v read somewhere that someone on the atkins diet ate half a pizza and gained 4lbs in 1 night!

You need to change your perspective on health and nutrition.

Period.

If you believe that eating a whole pizza leads to instantaneous fat gain, you've been very misled.

Weight is comprised of a lot more than fat, ya know. Water, glycogen, bowel matter, etc.

If I drank a gallon of water in 10 minutes, would I gain scale weight?

Should I fret about it?
