Hi all,
Welcome to the 5K Challenge....the challenge all about losing 5 kilos.
Join in, it's simple, and it's for anyone who:
~needs a kick start
~is struggling to get back on
~has put on a little whilst on maintenance
~new starters
~is a little competitive
~wants to have fun whilst losing
Quote from on of our greats, Cate "The 5kg challenge for whatever stage you're at in your personal weight-loss challenge. No discrimination. If you are on Cohens you will have a head start ahead of those of us who are post re-feed. It doesn't matter. This is a butt-kicking, fun challenge. We're all winners as we lose, whatever it is we lose. It doesn't matter. It's all about fun & friendship, being on the same journey. It doesn't matter what you call this thread Annie. It's open to anyone I think. I couldn't care less if I'm not the winner. To me, it's about finding the motivation to get back on track, focussing on the positive, xoxo Cate."
So there you have it. Starts Monday the 14th April, pop in and tell us a bit about yourself, how much you weigh or how much you want to lose. Keep us updated regularly with your losses and when you achieve the 5Kilos, stay on, cheer on others or go for another 5.
Let's have some fun with this!

Hi,
My name is bec and I'm on day 8 and feeling very positive about it all. To date I've lost 2.1kg and my goal is 16 which will bring me down to 54kg.
Some things I'm looking forward to:
Going and doing my new clothes shopping trip
Re-feeding
knowing how to go out to a restaurant and then eat at home so its all balanced and I don't put weight on
getting to goal so my hubby and I can have a baby
See ya

Cohen's is definetely made easier with the support, motivation and inspiration we all get from each other.
The more the merrier, can't wait to start this challenge.
Don't forget to post on Monday or whenever you can with your starting weight or how much you want to lose and we will start counting down from there.

Hi Annie Lusion
I have deliberately stayed away from the forum due to feeling a bit defeated...but I won't go into it here, I will go and off load in my diary in a bit. BUT........
Annie you can definitely count me in on this challenge I think this is what I need to get my butt up and atom. I need to lose 5kg plus more.
As most of you will know I am a Cohens graduate from the class of March 2007 I reached my goal weight of 63kg (138lbs) but I have slowly been putting the weight back on and my last recorded weight is 69kg (152lbs) but I am sure it is more now:(.
So I up to the Challenge Annie what a fabulous idea.....you are brilliant!!!!!!:hurray:.

Annie, You have made me blush! I'm in this for sure. After my week-end in Melbourne I have no idea how much I need to lose to get back to my post re-feed weight, but before the week-end it was exactly 5kg! This is going to be fun!! Welcome all!! I'll weigh & measure in the morning. Cheers fellow Muscateers!xoxo Cate

Hi everyone
I am here and have started the day off well. I will weigh tomorrow I forgot this morning, I am actually a bit scared I know I have gained especially sinced my weekend away at the Coast with my sister. I ate so much that I cannot even explain how my body and mind are feeling (but it is not good).
Will be back tonight, goodluck everyone.

Good Morning, Good Morning, Good Morning…..
The starter’s gun has been fired and the challenge has begun!
A bit about me for those of you who don’t know me… I finished my refeed in November 07 but now have 10kg to get back to my happy weight. It was 8kg but since taking on and extra job from Thurs – Sun at the local football club two and a half weeks ago another 2kg has crept on due to steak sandwiches and red frogs – therefore just silliness!!! Anway, I have been eagerly awaiting today since Annie first brought the concept to us after realising some assistance was greatly needed to help motivate and there’s nothing better than a bit of healthy competition!
I’ve tried to get back onto strict Cohen’s a few times over the last 6 weeks just to knock off a couple of kilos before I let it get too far and would be fine through to after lunch but then 3pm would come and the choccies were closer than the panadol to get rid of the detox headache!
I’ve started the day well and very prepared with an egg and musshies and tomato for breakie with my coffee for the day. I’ve got my lunch, crackers and fruit with me and two panadol sitting at the top of my keyboard just in case. Now it’s closer than the choccies and when I actually started the program (in 2 weeks, 12 months ago actually!) I only needed the one dose on the first day! So here’s hoping!
All prepared and ready to see that 5kg disappear! Cant wait to see everyone else’s progress and just remember that when you reach 5kg’s you’ve won… whether you were the first in this thread to get there or not!
Good luck everyone.
Lauren

Hi, I started Cohens Feb'07, finished Aug '07, losing 36kgs in total. I am now 5.5kg heavier, from relaxing just a little bit too much & not following the maintenence guidelines strictly. They are very sound guidelines & I think I got a bit too cocky & stretched the boundaries too far. My week-end in Melb added .5 of a kilo only (I thought it should be much more!), so the 5kg challenge will bring me only half a kilo over the weight I was really happy at. I am absolutely ravenous I must admit, but feeling bloated after my high carb w/e so am looking forward to losing that feeling. Cheers & happy losing, Cate

April 14th, 2008, 02:13 AM
Hi fellow competitors..hehe
Firstly, let's just make this simple, we are all aiming for 5 kilos/11 pounds, so we just post our losses whenever we want, some weigh daily some weigh weekly, some weigh monthly.
Pop in whenever and post what you have lost and keep a running total from the start date
ie.
Started challenge 14th April,
total loss: 300grams
First one to 5 kilos has bragging rights only because we are all winners here.
So they will get plenty of large font banners, lots of color, dancing smileys and all the fanfare congratulating them.
Once you do get to 5 kilos, you then go for another 5 kilos or you keep posting to cheer the rest of us on.
Sound good? feel free to add to the above
Secondly, Good luck all, I hope we all have a bit of fun with this.
Bitten: Imagine that, winning the challenge in your first week, how cool would that be huh?
Well I am a daily serial weigher so hoping to have my first loss up tomorrow...yeee hawwwwww

Well I made it through day one......whew!!!!!! I sweated this evening a bit though.
This was how my day went:-
1st Meal
Yoghurt and stewed apple and 2 cups of green tea.
2nd meal
Chicken and salad
3rd Meal
Meat and veg soup.
Fluid intake
2 litres of water and only green tea was drank today. I didn't do my crackers I just had a bit more food. I wasn't able to take any carbs today after the weekend.
Weigh in tomorrow and will post new ticker. Also my TOM's arrived today.....timely as ever, so I will be fat and fluid filled - just to make this challenge a bit more challenging!!!!....lol - NOT.
Don't forget to go to bed early and get your weightloss sleep.

Hi Gals! Nothing to report yet as I haven't weighed today. I woke up this morning with the menopausal bloats so steered clear of the scales. I vary a lot from day to day. 2kg in 2 days is not uncommon. I am not being 100% original Cohens. It's more a somewhere in between maintenence & original Cate program. If it doesn't work I'll have to try really, really hard to go 100% Cohens as I know that works. This is a good idea & I hope it gives most people an emotional, positive boost. I'm flirting with the challenge & haven't got serious yet. Perhaps weighing in the morning will make me commit! Cheers all, xo Cate

Hi gals
Well day 2 scale hopping has brought me much joy - 1.3kg. Yesterday it was 300g which I was happy with and anticipated no movement due to not following 100% so was exstatic to see my first decent scale movement. Now more motivated than ever. Will explain more in diary as would prefer to keep it short and sweet in here.
Well done to everyone so far!

Hi Bitten,
count the divide your weight loss by 7 - this gives you an average for each day, then count the days that were in the challenge until your weigh in day - so if you lost an average of 600g each day and you were in the challenge for 5 of those it would be 3000g which is 3 kilos.
Annie_Lusion
April 19th, 2008, 03:42 PM
Hi bitten,
Exactly what Bec said, you have lost a total of 4.5 kilos in a week divide by 7 days = 640 grams then multiply by days on challenge, I think that may be 3 days on challenge so total loss is 1.9 kilos. Whatever your next loss is when you weigh, add to 1.9 kilos and that will be your loss on challenge so far. Hope I have not confused you, I tend to do that alot...doh

It's Greek Easter next Sunday and I will be back on cohens next Monday 28th. I am not going to bother weighing myself. I will be cheering you all on in the challenge though so keep it up ladies, hoping more will join us.

wanna- weight varies so much from day to day & mostly it's fluid! The challenge is a great idea but when you are on the initial weight-loss program the constant weighing has the potential to do your head in. I really think weighing only monthly is the best idea until you get to re-feed. You will lose your weight by sticking to the program. There is no doubt about it. In the last week my weight has varied 2kgs but I know that's normal for me so don't lose heart, cheers, Cate.

Hi
This is the first time I have posted so I hope I am doing it right.
My name is Toni. I recently completed Cohen's, finishing refeed in mid April. After this time I was obsessed with food. I couldn't stop bingeing and I now have a really sweet tooth. I eat sweet things everyday. Meusli bars mostly. Other than that I eat mostly cohen's style meals, cripbead and fruit. But I have got back my coffee adiction, which I drink with 1sugar and milk (which has increased to about 5 a day). My bingeing is slowly settling which I am happy about, becuase for a while there I thought I was going crazy. My eating behaviours were worse than before I started Cohen's. But needless to say, I have gained quite a lot of weight in a short time. I have gone from 58kg to a maximum of 63kg (am a little below that today) I have told myself several times that I would stop eating sweet things or cut down on coffee or have smaller portions- anything to avoid the strictness of going back on the original plan. But here I am getting bigger and undoing all my hard work. So here goes, starting tomorrow I am joining the 5K Challenge. I am not looking forward to the hunger or the detox and all the side effects that go with it. But gee, I can't wait to see the weight loss and get rid of these awful sugar cravings. I have tried to start again before and caved by breakfast time when I was still hungry after eating, but it's now or never. I find myself feeling a failure for all my failed attempts to control my eating, and I hate to admit it but I am already doubting my ability to see this through. One of the main reasons I need to get back on the plan and regain control and faith and confidence in myself.

I am having a bad week, I am a baker and I keep sampling my food! its soo bloody hard. I think I will be lax this week (I have a party to go to sat) and sunday I will go hard core again and lose my other 8 kilos!
We can cheer each other on in here or in the thread up the top.
You can do it remember how good it felt to put on those smaller clothes!

Hi all,
Is the 5k challenge still happening. I want to join Monday as my weight loss has slowed and this may keep me more committed.
I had a weekend away full of deviations and thanks to Judy at my clinic have managed to jump back on the wagon full on determination and enthuisiasm. Mistakes happen, the biggest mistake would be to allow one weekend to determine the weight loss (or gain) for the next 6 months.
Take care all, keep on going,
Trudy
