I'm ashamed to say, but I used to eat McDonalds/Burger King meals twice daily.

Large Sized everytime, for lunch & dinner.

That alone, totalling almost 4000 calories.

Not to mention breakfest, i'd eat eggs/toast with butter, and Iced Tea, and the chips, chocolate, and un-healthy snack in between.

I'd say on average, I was eating close to 5000 calories/day.

This only started a few months ago, due to stress, time restrictions, etc. I gained a whopping 30 pounds, in 3-4 months. Disgusting!

I went from eating 5000 calories/daily, to now barely 1000/day. That's a 4000 cut-off.

What kind of effect will this have on my weight loss? Will I loose weight too fast, if i'm going from 5000 calories, to 1000 so drastically?

I also workout daily. Cardio/resistance training.

why do you think 1000 calories a day is a good idea?

I never said it was a good idea.

I understand it might be a bit too low, but i'm asking what the outcome would most likely be.

Thanks.

outcome of switching to 1000 after 4000? most likely not being able to stick to your new "diet"

Honestly, if you drop down to 1000 calories a day you'll lose weight initially, but then your body will most go into starvation mode, holding onto every ounce of fat it has, and you won't lose another pound. :(

Why are you going to go 1000 calories a day? Did you just pick some random number? What is your current age, sex, weight and height?

I know this is a really far out idea, but you might consider reading the stickies.

I don't know much about weight loss but I do know that 1000 calories is too low because they say you should eat @ least 1200

calories daily. You can eat your weight in calories and lose weight just by doing that and each pound that you lose you adjust your calories accordingly.

for ex: if you weigh 190 pounds you eat 1900 calories daily those calories are just to keep your heart pumping.

all the extra calories you burn will aid in your weight loss so when you lose 5lbs you start eating 1850 daily and so on...easier said than done. I know.

Theoretically, you'll die.
