Hi all, I am a young mom of 2(3.5 year old girl and 11 week old boy). I have absolutely no time what so ever to exercise. When the baby naps, he will sleep for about 20 minutes each time and when he's sleeping I have other things to do like attending to my highly demanding daughter. I have no time to exercise so does anyone have any ideas on simple, quick exercises? I try to get out for a walk once a day but its not always guaranteed. I just need to loose this weight I gained from my last pregnancy. I was 165 when I got pregnant and am now 219. With my 1st pregnancy I ended up getting up to 235 due to high blood pressure which made me gain a lot of weight. So now i am back up to were I started and it gets me so depressed. I would be estatic if I could get back down to 165 which it my main goal for now. After that i'd like to be 140. Anyways, I cant wait to get to know ya'll :)

I'm also the mother of 2 young highly demanding kids and like you was in a very similar situation. Very little time to exercise and even when you get a few minutes all you want to do is sit down for 5 seconds.
I'll tell you what I did, I don't know if it would work for you but it would be worth a shot. Find one of those children's exercise video's like dancing with barney or whatever you daughter loves. Then get one of those baby snugglies ( or even just hold onto the little one. Get the family together and have fun. You won't be able to follow the moves exactly, neither will you daughter but I'll bet you'll have fun. And you'll be getting a good work out.
Even if you don't go and get one of the kids videos just throw on some music and everybody move. Hope that can help :) Good Luck!

New here also...
I just wanted to post and say that I really understand how you are feeling. My daughter is almost 1 year old and I am still struggling to loose all the extra weight I am carrying around. Sonds like we have similar weight goals... Good luck.

I'm going through sort of the same thing. I have a two month old and he barely sleeps during the day. And he had surgery at a month old and we had to hold him in the hospital for 24 hours straight to keep him from screaming so he's spoiled already. If he's awake, he usually wants to be held so I don't get a lot of time to do anything. My boyfriend is very understanding though and when he comes home he takes over Aiden so I can either take a walk or get some housework done. Unfortunately in Florida in the rainy season you can't always get a walk in the evening unless you want to get soaked.
But I'm right there with ya.

Hi there & welcome!!! I have a 3 year old and an 18 month old so I know what you are going through. It really IS hard to find time for that exercise. Do you have a double stroller? Taking the kids out for a walk when it is not too hot can be a pleasant distraction to your day...and helps you get in your exercise.

I have two year old daughter. I joined the gym when she was 2 months old, when my husband got home I would go for an hour, the time to my self rejuvenated me. A suggestion would be take your older child to the park and walk around with the other child while the older one plays.
A big lesson I learned was that focus on what goes in your mouth first. I was working out heaps but making up for it by eating more which really got me no where.
Hope that helps.

Hi I have a 3 year old and 9 month old, what I did was join a gym, that has a great playroom, and it's eaiser knowing there having fun while I take a class and/or excersize. It wasn't always easy for me to wait till my husband got home to go walk, because he gets home late at night, so this was the best for me. My doctor has also put me on fastin, to help with weight control. i just started, so i hope all my effort is worth it!

like all of you here i find it hard to find time to exercise. i have a 3 year old and 1 year old. i got pretty good at walking during my lunch and lifting once or twice a week and utilizing weekend when the girls were napping. however, my foot is now on the outs and i can't walk, so i'm kinda just in a slump and don't know how to get over it. i don't have any equipment at home for cardio and i plan on getting a bike soon, but i don't have one right now. so, if you have any suggestions, please share.
and good luck to all of you. seems like everyone is making progress!!!! :)

Hi everyone,
What a great forum! So supportive, I love it! I wanted to share with you something that worked for me. I did a cleanse. There are a lot of crazy cleanses out there that put the body into starvation so you don't want one of those, that would be like the master cleanse or the lemonade diet. I did this cleanse that was so easy - it was amazing. I lost 9lbs in 9 days and have kept it off for 8 months. I also had a coach for free that came with the cleanse. She sent me e-mails and called me to see how I was doing. I did exercise while doing this cleanse as was suggested by my coach but I just spoke with a friend who did it last week - a guy who lost 18 lbs in 9 days and he wasn't exercising. Anyway, the coach explains why this works, why it is different than other things and it made a ton of sense. You can find out more information at www.endlessenergy.ca

Luxurylv, I was wondering while you were pregnant if you were high risk for preclampsia? I was at 168 when I got pregnant and ended at about 219. The doctor put me on bed rest towards the end because of the high blood pressure. Do you think that maybe the high blood pressure could be a combining factor in being predisposed to excess weight gain during (and after) pregnancy? Just a thought. I read your post and it sounded a lot like what I went through with the weight gain and all.
But dont worry there is light at the end of the tunnel :)
Im only a mother of one, but my son is so high needs that his pediatrician even told me that he had never seen such an energetic/demanding baby! But, now that he is getting older, I do find myself having time during naps or at night after everyone has been put to bed, to do a 30 min cardio dvd, and than lift weights for about 15 min or so. Hope this helps. Take care and good luck :)

When I have babies I'm planning on buying a running stroller that I can run and push. They are designed to give the child a smooth ride and give you room for your legs, etc. I don't know how hard it would be to introduce children to this but I wouldn't think it too bad. Kids love going on a ride. *smile* These might be expensive - don't know about that. But you can exercise (walking or running) and give your kids a good time!

Hello! I have a 3 year old.. I lost the baby weight just by eating low calories. If you have the money definately join a gym with a kid's center. Mine does, and my son seems to like going there while I work out!! I gained 45lbs when I got pregnant. I lost 60 lbs after I had him and gained 15 back now. Be active with your kids! It helps you to not eat and to get fit and you get that bonding time with them!!!

One important thing that I have learned is that you dont have to do all of your exercise at once. Three or four 10 minute workouts/walks are just as good as a 30-40 minute workout. Just fit it in whenever you can and it will add up. Even running around the house playing with your daughter can count as exercise if you make it count.

I am right there with you. I have never in my life struggled to lose weight until I had 2 kids. I have always been able to maintain at 125 with no effort, in 2005 I got pregnant with my daughter and gained 64 pounds, I blew up to 189 the day I had her. I lost about 40 pounds after having her, but not 3 months later I found out I was pregnant again. In hopes to not gain as much weight the second time around I got a job thinking that it would keep me active and I would be able to keep the weight down. NOPE...the day I had my son I was 200 pounds  when I saw that # I wanted to cry. I am now at 172 and have maintained this weight the past couple of months. My son is a little over 2 months old. For New Years I set a goal to lose 20 pounds by April and 30 pounds overall. I am in my second week of working out. My husband and I work out about 20 minutes a day throughout the week. I am so lucky to have such a supportive husband that wants to help me acheive my goal.
My advice to you and to those who are stay at home mothers, when your husbands get home, take some time for yourself. It is important that you do so, I know how hard it can be to tear yourself away from the children, I was at home with my daughter 8 months before going back to work and never took any time for myself, but now that I know that it is important to your well being to get away, even if it is for 30 minutes a day to go for a fast paced walk or find a small gym that has a tread mill and get on it and set some goals for yourself and do not give up on them!! You deserve it!! Good luck to all of you and look forward to getting to know you all!

I can totally relate- I have three kids ages 8, 4 and 2. I homeschool and care for a 7 month old baby full time. Talk about NOT having time to workout!
I find though, that if I carefully examine my day there's at least an hour or so that I'm either on the computer, watching tv or talking on the phone. PLENTY of time to get a good workout in. When you're a busy mom, sometimes you have to give up that 1/2 hour sitcom rerun you like so much. :) I like to record fittv workouts on my tivo and stick them in whenever I get a minute. My fave is Slowrobics with Ellen Bartlett. It's an AWESOME fat burner but for someone uncoordinated like me it's even better because it's SLLOOOOW! :)
The only other times that work for me 5 in the morning or as mentioned, right after hubby gets home from work. I'd LOVE to be able to get up at 5 but seriously.... SERIOUSLY!! lol I am planning on doing the gym thing when we get a membership in a few weeks. I'm really excited. That's my present to me with our income tax return. :)
I wish you well in your journey. You have great goals! Good luck!

I also can really relate to you. I am a single mom of 5 kids aged 11,7,5,3, and 2. It seems like I am always on the go and that I should be just dropping the pounds but it just doesn't work that way. I have a glider set up in my living room in front of the t.v. yes I know that it makes my living room unattractive and the kids like to play on it no matter how many times I tell them not too but I have learned that it helps me tp get in some exercise everyday even if it is just 10 minutes while I wait to watch the local weather on the Weather Channel! I also have learned not to take tastes of everything that the kids think I should taste! My girls like to cook both real and pretend foods. I am encouraging the pretend play as it will help my waistline!

I would suggest finding a gym with the daycare option. If you dont want to go that route, I would speak to your husband and tell him what you want to do.
If you can set up one hour sometime in the evening, then that is plenty of time to get in a great workout. Im sure your husband wouldnt mind spending some good time with his children. I would just make sure its not right when he walks in the door. What time does he go to work and what time do the kids wake up? Maybe you could also go early in the morning.

Yeah colon cleansing is an awesome way to start a diet. I lost 15 lbs in 15 days believe it or not. Sure, I am pooping about 6 times a day but it's good to know that the wierd junk I see in the toilet bowl is no longer in my body. Most people don't know that the average american has 4-20 pounds of gunk in thier colon, but since you are cleanse_girl then you probably know.
I checked out your link but I didn't see an ingredient list anywhere. The natural colon cleanse product (http://www.healthdirectusa.com/index.php?category=loseweight&prodID=7) I am using has the standard colon cleansing formula ingredients plus Turkey Rhubarb which I had never heard of before.

After reading everyones posts, I feel better. I am new to the site, and I felt like I was the only one who is struggling with these issues. I have a 22 month old daughter and STILL have not lost the weight that I put on durring my pregnancy. In college I was 145lbs. When I got pregnant I was 170lbs (so its not all to blame on the pregnancy) and now I am 208lbs. I desperatly want to be skinny again, and am panicking because we have decided that now would be a good time for baby #2. All that extra weight is going to be MORE extra weight. I try to get out and walk, but living in New England, the weather isnt always good for bringing a toddler out for a stroll. And when I do get free time, its goes to something else, laundry or housework or just putting my feet up for a second or two. Im just at a loss of what to do. I feel like I have no motivation anymore. And I dont want to be stuck this weight forever. I dont think Im meant to be a big person. And its affecting things in the bedroom...if you get where Im going with this. If anyone has any motivation tips or quick work out suggestions, please please please let me know. Thanks so much.....and heres to getting rid of all the extra weight!

I wouldnt worry so much about workout bella as I would diet. A proper diet with proper meal frequency and calories can create weight loss without exercise.
